Across the U.S, state legislatures are passing measures that make it harder for people to cast their vote, compromising our democracy. There are several methods of voter supression such as voter I.D. laws, voter registration restrictions,gerrymandering, and more. Altogether, these measures make it harder for eligble voters to exercise their right to vote. these measures These tactics often disproportionately affect certain demographics, including people of color, elderly people, people with disabilities, and young people.

In light of Covid-19, states are faced with the challenge of adapting the voting process to account for the potential risks of in-person voting. The obvious option is voting from home through absentee ballots and before the pandemic, the number of voters choosing this option was increasing. However, during the pandemic, there has been an exponential increase in demand for mail-in voting and not all states are equipped to meet these demands. There is great variation across the country of voting by absentee ballot. From the delays of absentee ballots in mail to the sheer volume of ballots submitted, many are concerned how states will handel the general election in November.
